Bridgestone named 'biggest investor' in Poland

Bridgestone Corp. has received Forbes Poland's "Biggest Foreign Investor 2006" award. Bridgestone is building a truck tire plant in the country.

The 200 million euro factory, which was started last year, is located in Stargard Szczecinski, in northwest Poland. It's slated for completion in 2009.

The plant is expected "to meet growing European demand for Bridgestone commercial vehicle tires," according to Bridgestone officials.

"It will also enhance the company’s degree of self-sufficiency in the region and contribute to the creation of a strategic product supply system."

Bridgestone is currently building an automated tire plant in Hungary that will be done by the end of 2007.
