Poland's Telekomunikacja Polska's 9-mths results better than expected

Poland's Telekomunikacja Polska (TP) unveiled better than expected results, reporting nine-month net income of 1.7 bln pln, which was slightly ahead of analysts' consensus forecast of 1.6 bln pln, the Puls Biznesu news service reported.

Sales rose 2.1 pct to 13.9 bln pln, against the 13.8 bln pln predicted by analysts.

The company also raised its sales estimates for the full year to 1 pct growth from a previous projection of a 1-1.5 pct decline.

The market was caught off guard and the stock jumped 4.5 pct in morning trade.

TP expects to have 12 mln customers at the end of the year while rival Centertel, which operates the Orange mobile network in Poland, is targeting 11.7 mln, Puls Biznesu said.
