Poland's Bank BPH 2Q Profit Up 22% On Retail Banking Business
Bank BPH SA (BPH.WA), a unit of Italy's UniCredit SpA ( UC.MI), Fridaysaid that second-quarter net profit jumped 22% on booming retail business.

BPH, Poland's third-largest bank by assets, said net profit for the three months ended June 30 was 394 million zlotys ($142.7 million), up from PLN324.2 million in the year-earlier period.

The lender's performance was better than analyst forecasts of a PLN350 million net profit and was driven by BPH's booming consumer- and mortgage-loan business.

For the six-month period, BPH net profit rose by 41% on the year, to PLN857.5 million, better than analyst expectations of PLN813 million.
